A meeting held on 5 December in Brussels launched a new cooperation platform aimed at advancing the digital transformation of Erasmus+ mobility administration. Representatives from higher education institutions across Europe, all connected to the EWP network through different systems, took part in the discussions.

Technical testing and validation – Erasmus Without Paper
echnical testing and validation is a key requirement for joining the EWP Network via inhouse mobility software or 3rd-party providers.
In-house software – Erasmus Without Paper
If you are using your own in-house built mobility management software, connecting it with the Erasmus Without Paper Network will allow you to communicate with other systems, so that you can send and receive student information as data into your system.
Implementing EWP – Erasmus Without Paper
On this page we share articles from colleagues who are implementing EWP and share their success stories as well as challenges they needed to overcome. It is meant as a source of inspiration for institutions implementing EWP.
Combination of systems – Erasmus Without Paper
The Erasmus Without Paper architecture is constructed in such a way that you can use a combination of systems (Erasmus Dashboard, third-party mobility software, in-house built mobility software) for exchanging mobility-related information.
Key Usage Milestones Announced
The European Commission reported significant adoption rates: 3,342 HEIs connected to the EWP network, 152,253 inter-institutional agreements, 185,027 Learning Agreements completed digitally, and 218,546 downloads of the Erasmus+ App.
EWP Assessment Report Shows Improved Data Exchanges but Highlights Remaining Challenges
A newly published Assessment Report shows clear improvements in data exchanges across the Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) network compared to the previous year, with most technical issues now resolved. Despite this progress, some users continue to face challenges and concluding digital inter‑institutional agreements (IIAs) remains complex even when exchanges function correctly. This workflow will be revised in the next Erasmus+ programme to ensure smoother processing and a more user‑friendly experience.
Erasmus+ App Update Enhances User Experience for Mobile Students
The latest Erasmus+ App update introduces several improvements designed to enhance the student experience and make the app easier for institutions to promote. Updated onboarding screens, clearer login steps, better search and filtering, and a redesigned mobility‑journey checklist all contribute to a more intuitive and user‑friendly interface. These refinements help students navigate their exchange preparations more efficiently and give them greater control over their mobility process.
EWP Champions Support Digitalisation Efforts in Higher Education
The Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) Champions initiative highlights the benefits of digitalisation for students, higher education institutions, and the European Education Area. EWP Champions are representatives from selected institutions who actively promote the digital transformation of Erasmus+ administrative processes and support wider adoption of the EWP approach.
Functionalities – Erasmus Without Paper
The Erasmus+ mobility for studies entails a whole set of processes that facilitate such mobility.
How to join?- Erasmus Without Paper
To join the EWP Network institutions need to have an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education; accordingly organisational units of a given HEI (faculties, departments) are not allowed to connect to the network on their own. You don’t join or register for EWP personally, your institution does.Â

New Version 7 IIA API Enhances Interoperability Across EWP Network
The Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) initiative is coordinated through a community‑driven governance structure involving stakeholders across Europe. Following recent discussions within this structure, the European Commission will roll out a major update of the inter‑institutional agreement (IIA) API—version 7—in 2024.
The dawn of a digital Erasmus: a tale of transformation
The Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) initiative has recently undergone a significant transformation aimed at enhancing its digital infrastructure. The Interoperability reinforcement plan, which was in action for six months from September 2022 to February 2023, sought to address critical issues and streamline the digitalisation of the Erasmus+ program.
