As you may know, the project came to an official end on 31st December 2019.

With the European Commission’s announcement that Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) will be mandatory starting with the new Erasmus programme, many institutions are wondering how to digitise their Erasmus processes and just how difficult the transition will be.

The Erasmus without Paper project was presented in cooperation with the Turkish Erasmus+ National Agency at Selcuk University, Konya on the 30 September 2019.

Erasmus Without Paper has a LinkedIn group for professional staff working with digitalisation and student mobility.

On 12 and 13 September 2019, the Technical partners’ team and the Steering Committee of the Erasmus without Paper consortium met in Malaga to take stock of what had been done so far and to plan the activities until the end of the present project.

The EWP Competence Centre contains a lot of useful information for anyone interested in EWP, including for Erasmus Mobility Coordinators, for Higher Education leadership and for IT Teams & 3rd party mobility software providers.

On 20-21 November in Berlin, the MyAcademicID project (MyAID) will present the progress made so far in developing a European Student eID Scheme for Higher Education.

From the 12th to the 13th of December the launch of the Erasmus without Paper (EWP) network will take place at the Ghent University.

A webinar held on 7 March, titled “Erasmus Goes Digital”, brought together DG EAC, DG CNECT, and the European University Foundation to present the long‑term vision for digitalisation within the future Erasmus+ programme. More than 750 institutions from 40 countries participated to understand how the transition from paper‑based to fully digital mobility processes will unfold and how the European Student Card Initiative supports this shift. The session also highlighted that student cards can already carry the European Student Card hologram, helping strengthen a shared European student identity.

This project focused on creating the foundation for a secure, federated authentication and identification system for mobile students, paving the way for the European Student Identifier (ESI).

The EWP Network officially went into production (operational status).
