EWP evolution – how stable processes are rolled-out

With the findings from the Interoperability Reinforcement Plan in our backpack, the EWP+ consortium looks ahead. At the same time, we keep working to make sure no institution is left behind in implementing digital inter-institutional agreements and learning agreements. What’s on the horizon for EWP in 2023 and 2024? Find out more.

Looking back at EWP+ in 2022

After years of work by teams across Europe, 2022 was the year in which the Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) became a concrete reality. Many Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) transitioned to digitally exchange Inter-Institutional Agreements and Learning Agreements. In this article, we will look back at the main accomplishments of the past year.

New service to identify providers of your partners

When dealing with the online renewal of inter-institutional agreements (IIAs) and learning agreements (LAs,) you have definitely wondered: what tool is my partner using. A new service developed by the EWP+ Consortium now unlocks this information.

The EWP Network core building blocks: APIs

The Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) initiative promises Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to exchange information in the context of student mobility swiftly and securely. To do this, it uses digital technology to pave the way to manage mobilities more efficiently. But what does this mean? And how does it work? Let’s look under the hood of the EWP Network at one of the core components, the so-called Application Programming Interfaces, shortly referred to as APIs.

EWP Assessment Report Shows Progress but Highlights Remaining Technical Issues

A recent Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) Assessment Report confirms that the system is functioning more effectively than in the previous year, with most technical issues resolved. However, some software providers still fail to fully meet EWP standards, which can lead to occasional problems—particularly with inter‑institutional agreement (IIA) exchanges.

Reinforcing Interoperability Across the Erasmus Without Paper Network

Achieving full interoperability—where all higher education systems can seamlessly exchange machine‑readable data for inter‑institutional and learning agreements—remains a key goal for the Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) Network. To reach this objective, the European Commission and the EWP Consortium launched the Interoperability Reinforcement Plan, targeting issues raised by stakeholders and strengthening the foundations needed for smooth digital exchanges.
