An EU funded project that aims to render the administrative workflow of Erasmus paperless.

EWP 2.0 is a follow-up to the first Erasmus Without Paper project (end: 31/10/2017). The basic aim of the project is to enable an electronic network with a dynamic registry (with the binding info in manifest files) and to define a number of APIs (advanced programming interface) for HEIs or service providers. The APIs contain the specification of the data format used and a formal description of how it exchanges data.
While basic APIs were implemented by 7 technical partners, the project will continue fine-tuning and implementing the already defined APIs and add a number of new ones. A business integration process will be started up and the systems fully tested. The integration and collaboration with the Online Learning Agreement project (OLA), Egracons (Grade Conversion), ESC (European Student card) and EMREX will be intensified. The aim is a common registry (single point of entry) and conditions for entry and use. The EWP data format (ELMO compatible) will be compared to other standards, eg. in the US. Connection to the Mobility Tool+ is also envisaged as well as the integration of eID (EIDAS). A graphical user interface (the EWP Hub) will be developed that will connect publicly available software for HEIs without the required ICT software. This EWP Hub may grow into a platform that connects various server-based services from European projects. A competence centre with documentation, detailed use cases, code examples and software libraries will be elaborated and guidance and training for developers, policymakers, software and service providers, users and other stakeholders produced. The competence centre will also provide guidance for those who want to implement EWP.
At the end of 2018, a roll-out all over Europe will be started. EWP should be the main European data transfer portal by 2020. Ultimately, EWP should provide access to all kinds of service providers dealing with student data portability by implementing additional APIs and maintaining and updating the standards.
