Strengthening skills, building confidence: inside the first EUF Training Week

Apr 2, 2026

Sometimes, the best way to measure the energy of a room is simply to listen. As conversations grow louder, ideas sharper, and questions more frequent, something meaningful takes shape. That was precisely the atmosphere during the first edition of the EUF Training Week, held from 23 to 27 March in Budapest and hosted by Eötvös Loránd University.

Learning by doing and by sharing

Designed as an intensive experience, this new training format brought together higher education professionals working across Erasmus KA1, KA2 project management, and digitalisation. Participants joined different parallel trainings, some staying for the full week and two training sessions, others diving into one specific area of interest.

It soon became clear how strongly the format resonated, regardless of experience level. Newcomers and experienced colleagues alike found value not only in the content, but in the way it was explored: through discussion, exchange, and practical reflection. By day two, many participants were already building long to-do lists, concrete ideas and actions to take back to their institutions.

Competence development beyond the four walls of a room

The EUF Training Week did not just focus on delivering knowledge, but on facilitating the strengthening of competencies, confidence and professional networks in a broader sense.

While the parallel thematic training provided structure and expertise, the real learning often happened in between: around tables during the group works, in spontaneous conversations over coffee breaks, and in the willingness to ask questions openly.

What we noticed is that only when participants feel comfortable sharing both successes and challenges, does learning become more grounded, and more impactful. Higher education institutions already hold a wealth of expertise and creating the right environment allows that knowledge to circulate, deepen, and grow into something collective. This is why participants described the experience as “enlightening”, not only for the ideas exchanged, but for the sense of community it fostered.

This first edition has already sparked new ideas, new collaborations, and strong motivation to continue building on this format.

The next EUF Training Week will take place this autumn.
