Insights from ESCI events in Belgium and Greece Shape the Future of Erasmus+ Digitalisation

National ESCI Days as Drivers of Community Feedback

Recent ESCI events in Belgium and Greece highlighted how essential the higher education community is in shaping the future of Erasmus+ digitalisation. The April and May national ESCI Days and consultation meetings brought together practitioners to exchange experiences, discuss challenges, and reflect on progress in digital mobility. Insights gathered during these sessions will feed directly into ongoing developments across the Erasmus+ digital ecosystem.

Belgium: Peer Exchange and Focus on Infrastructure Stability

At the ESCI Day in Belgium on 24 April, participants from the country and neighbouring regions engaged in discussions marked by openness and momentum. EWP Champions shared lessons from implementing Erasmus Without Paper, stressing the value of peer networking and the importance of stable infrastructure and clear timelines.

Attendees welcomed updates on 2025 targets and expressed enthusiasm for upcoming advances, particularly the digitalisation of nominations.

Greece: Training, Consultation, and Regional Collaboration

The Thessaloniki meeting on 21 May maintained this collaborative atmosphere, combining training, consultations, and exchanges of good practices. Contributions from national representatives and EWP Champions underscored the progress made so far and the need to address procedural details that affect daily workflows.

The event’s strong turnout, including participants from six neighbouring countries, demonstrated the high value placed on user–expert interaction.

Practical Needs from the Institutional Perspective

Across both events, IROs contributed key perspectives on digitalisation priorities, practical steps for simplifying Erasmus administration, and ways to enhance transparency and fairness between institutions. Hands‑on training sessions focused on rolling out digital Learning Agreements across different systems, helping institutions progress toward the 95% digitalisation target while addressing remaining challenges.
