The Erasmus+ App is a mobile application for Erasmus+ participants that guides users through their mobility process and constitutes a single point of access to available online tools.
Started: 2017
Funding: Erasmus+ 30 Year Anniversary
Project budget: Co-funded by the EUF and the European Commission
Length: 1 year
In 2017, the Erasmus Programme celebrated its 30th anniversary and set a significant milestone for Europe’s best-known initiative, which already since 2014 brings together multiple programmes in the fields of education, training and youth under the umbrella of Erasmus+. At the same time, last year also marked the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, offering a perfect opportunity to reflect on the progress achieved through European integration as well as on the future that can be built.
In this framework, the EUF developed a mobile application with the aim to accompany the user from the start of the mobility to the return to their home country. The Erasmus+ App was launched on June 14th 2017, during a 30-year anniversary celebration event held in Strasbourg by the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Mr Tibor Navracsics. In the meantime it has already been downloaded more than 40,000 times.
With a rapidly growing user-base, it proves to be an important point of support for students while offering a simple and powerful tool for HEIs to bring crucial notifications directly to the students’ fingertips.
The App in the meantime has experienced constant growth in functionalities and the process will only continue. As of now the Erasmus+ App offers the following features:
- Step-by-Step checklists to guide students through the most important milestones
- Push-notifications with crucial information from home and host higher education institutions
- Updates of the status of Online Learning Agreement
- Useful tips from other Erasmus+ participants and the chance to contribute
- Information on relevant events from local ESN organisations
- A newsfeed and local events and activities
- Connection to OLS
- Structured information on other opportunities available under the Erasmus+ umbrella
The collaborative approach promoted by the European University Foundation and the Erasmus Student Network aims to integrate existing IT infrastructures in the field of learning mobility into the Erasmus+ App, making it as relevant for individual beneficiaries as possible. Work in underway to streamline information and processes, rendering mobility easy and accessible, while promoting innovation and the meaningful digitisation of the Erasmus programme.
Erasmus+ App is available on Apple Store and Google Play.
