How Digital Officers Support Erasmus+ Digitalisation

Digital Officers play an important role in supporting the European Student Card Initiative (ESCI) and the digitalisation of Erasmus+ mobility administration. Working within Erasmus+ National Agencies, they act as a bridge between EWP users, the European Commission and the EWP+ project team. Their responsibilities include sharing updates on national progress, offering guidance to institutions, and disseminating information to their higher education institutions.

A Key Link Between Institutions and the European Level

The role dates back to 2019, when National Authorities and National Agencies were first asked to nominate a Digital Officer to support the rollout of the European Student Card. Since then, Digital Officers have become an integral part of ESCI’s governance structure, helping to coordinate activities, raise awareness and ensure that institutions receive the support they need. They monitor the implementation of all ESCI components, contribute to discussions on challenges faced by institutions and help maintain a coherent overview of ongoing developments.

Supporting Institutions Through Guidance and Feedback

Institutions wishing to contact their country’s Digital Officer can do so through their National Agency. Digital Officers also welcome success stories and unresolved issues from institutions, which helps improve coordination and provide targeted support across the Erasmus+ community.
