On 2 April, mobility software systems connected to the Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) Network will transition to version 7 of the inter‑institutional agreement (IIA) API. This update will allow institutions to modify and terminate agreements across systems and introduces several technical improvements. Software providers may begin preparing their systems from 25 March, and institutions are advised to avoid exchanging IIAs during the transition week. Once the update is complete, exchanges can resume normally.
What the Version 7 Transition Means for Institutions
The update does not affect existing mutually approved inter‑institutional agreements, which remain valid for their full duration. New agreements, as well as those not yet approved by both partners, will automatically follow the updated standards after the transition. In cases where an institution or partner has not yet upgraded, agreements can still be concluded outside the EWP network until both systems support version 7.
Preparing for the Update and Accessing Support
The version 7 rollout builds on lessons from earlier updates and aims to strengthen consistency across the network. Institutions can track their provider’s readiness through technical testing reports and consult support materials as needed. For questions or technical issues, users may contact the ESCI Service Desk or seek guidance from their National Agency.
