Call for ESCI Champions 2025–2027 Now Open

The call for ESCI Champions for the 2025–2027 period is now open, inviting organisations to apply by 16 May 2025. The initiative recognises higher education institutions and other organisations that have made notable progress in implementing key components of the European Student Card Initiative (ESCI), contributing to the digitalisation and simplification of Erasmus+ mobility processes.
Institutions holding an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) may apply in one of three categories: implementation of Erasmus Without Paper (EWP), implementation of the European Student Card (ESC), or “Champions of Excellence” for strong achievements in both. Other eligible applicants include national authorities, student unions, and third‑party card issuers aligned with ESC standards.
Selected Champions will serve a two‑year term, gaining enhanced visibility and access to promotional resources. They will support the ESCI community by participating in meetings, national events, and outreach activities such as sharing testimonials and best practices. Applications are reviewed by Digital Officers at Erasmus+ National Agencies, with final selections made by DG EAC. One Champion will be chosen per National Agency, and results will be announced in mid‑June. The 2025–2027 cycle will begin with a kick‑off meeting in Gothenburg on 9 September, held alongside the EAIE conference.
Organisations can submit their applications through the official form and are encouraged to consult the detailed guidance provided ahead of applying. For additional questions, the ESCI service desk remains available through both the EWP and ESC support channels.
