The 2025–2027 round of ESCI Champions received the highest number of applications so far, reflecting the strong commitment of higher education institutions to improving digital student mobility. ESCI Champions are institutions and organisations that have advanced the implementation of key components of the European Student Card Initiative, helping streamline and simplify Erasmus+ administrative processes.
A Strong and Diverse Group of Digitalisation Ambassadors
The newly selected Champions will serve for two years, acting as ambassadors for the initiative. Their role includes contributing to meetings and national events, sharing practical experiences and best practices, and helping shape future ESCI developments. Champions were chosen across three categories: implementation of Erasmus Without Paper (EWP), implementation of the European Student Card (ESC), and “Champions of Excellence” for outstanding progress in both areas.
This round included 124 applications from 30 countries, with one Champion selected per Erasmus+ National Agency. The list features universities and student organisations from across the European Education Area that demonstrated strong engagement with ESCI’s digitalisation goals.
Launching the 2025–2027 Champions Cycle
A kick‑off meeting for the 2025–2027 Champions will be held in Gothenburg on 9 September, ahead of the EAIE conference. In the coming months, more insights, testimonials, and examples of good practice from the Champions will be shared to support wider adoption of ESCI across Europe.
