Announcing "EUF Training Week," an event focused on building capacity and expertise in European higher education. It will be held from October 26-30, 2026, at the University of Latvia (Riga).

EUF Training Week returns this autumn in Riga

May 28, 2026

From 26 to 30 October 2026, the EUF Training Week returns for a new edition hosted by the University of Latvia in Riga.

Following a successful first cycle launched in Budapest in March 2026, the initiative continues to grow as a dedicated learning and networking space for higher education professionals seeking practical, community-driven training on the realities and challenges of European cooperation and internationalisation.

The first EUF Training Week brought together around 100 professionals from across Europe — both experienced practitioners and newcomers — creating opportunities to exchange practices, build connections, and explore new approaches together. You can read more about it here.

This autumn, the Riga edition will once again offer competence-focused, practice-based training designed to support professionals in their day-to-day work while also encouraging a more strategic reflection on institutional development and European collaboration. Beyond the sessions themselves, the Training Week aims to foster a stronger sense of community among colleagues working across the higher education landscape.

This autumn’s programme includes three specialised training topics:

  • Lump Sum in Action: How to plan, track & deliver in a Lump Sum funding environment (26–28 October 2026): Designed primarily for Erasmus+ KA2 project coordinators, financial officers, and colleagues involved in the implementation and administration of Erasmus+ cooperation projects, this training focuses on the practical realities of working within the Lump Sum funding model. Participants will explore planning strategies, financial monitoring approaches, reporting practices, and common implementation challenges.
  • From Projects to Strategy: Unlocking Erasmus+ KA1-KA2 Synergies (28–30 October 2026): Tailored for senior internationalisation professionals and leaders of international relations offices, this training examines how institutions can move beyond fragmented Erasmus+ activities and build stronger connections between mobility, cooperation projects, and broader institutional priorities.
  • Student and Staff Mobility Unpacked: Tools, Tendencies, and Practical Insights (26–28 October 2026 / 28–30 October 2026): Designed for colleagues working in International Relations Offices, this training offers practical, immediately applicable competences in managing Erasmus+ KA1 mobilities, while also exploring emerging trends and opportunities in internationalisation. Held on two dates, the sessions will be tailored to different experience levels:
    • Early-career professionals (less than 3 years of experience): focusing on core tools, operational confidence, and hands-on guidance for managing mobility processes.
    • Experienced professionals (more than 3 years of experience): focusing on deeper practice exchange, advanced challenges, and strategic approaches to mobility management.

Higher education staff members can use Erasmus+ staff mobility funding to participate in the trainings.
