On the 17th of March 2016, rectors and representatives of the member universities will meet at the University of Alcalá, in Alcalá de Henares, Spain. During this meeting the EUF’s 2015 activities will be presented and the Board will advise on the strategic priorities for 2016/17, in line with the “Reshaping the EUF-CE” document approved last year. The EUF thanks the University of Alcalá for having offered to host the first Board meeting outside of Luxembourg, and especially Prof. Miguel Angel Sotelo and Prof. Carmen Santamaria for their support.
The UAH was founded in 1499 and during its long existence it counted some of the most prominent figures of the Spanish culture. The most important literary prize in the Spanish language – Premio Cervantes – is awarded annually by the King of Spain in the Great Hall of the University of Alcalá. From 1998 until 2013, it was the only European University declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, having been the world’s first planned university city.
