The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki counts over 100,000 students and is therefore the largest university in Greece and in the Balkans. The University was established in 1925 and provides students a comprehensive range of education and training opportunities. The Campus comprises the traditional buildings for lectures, libraries, a sport centre, a university camping, farm and forest reserves, and the School of Modern Greek Language.

A modern metropolis, Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece and has been known throughout history as being the co-capital. Located on a bay that boasts splendid views to Mount Olympus coast, the city has a major port and serves not only as an economical centre, but also as a cultural and historical centre of Greece, with many restaurants, museums and beautiful sights.

The Charles University  is a multi-disciplinary, research-oriented and innovative institution, being ranked on the top two per cent of universities worldwide. With seventeen faculties and three university institutes, the University welcomes talented students from abroad, as well as accomplished professors and researchers, as the great Albert Einstein in 1911. Prague is the largest city in the Czech Republic and one of Europe’s most beautiful metropolis, alongside with Vienna and Paris. Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) is a prestigious institution of public higher education in Budapest, Hungary, operating continuously since 1635. As a top-ranked university in Hungary, it is the most popular higher education institution among applicants as well as alma mater of six Nobel laureates and leading figures in technology, public policy, and culture in Hungary. Currently, about 38,000 students study at nine faculties at ELTE with about 5,300 international students from over 100 countries.

ELTE has more than 900 bilateral partnerships for cooperation and exchange. It is an active member of international university networks and involved in joint degree programs. ELTE has the highest number of members of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences which provides a truly academic atmosphere.

Founded in 1817, Ghent University distinguishes itself as a socially committed and pluralistic university in a broad international perspective. It is one of the leading institutions of higher education and research in Belgium with over 41,000 students and more than 9,000 staff members. Its 11 faculties offer a wide range of courses and conduct in-depth research within a large variety of scientific domains. Located in Flanders, the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium, Ghent University is an active partner in national and international educational, scientific and industrial cooperation, resulting in a top-100 position in global university rankings.

As one of the largest medieval cities of Northern Europe and the first city on the continent to be industrialised, Ghent combines its magnificent historical setting with a thriving and authentic city life, attractive to students, as well as professionals.

Established more than 200 years ago, the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin is one of the most prestigious universities in Germany and in Europe. Named after its founder, Wilhelm von Humboldt, who has developed a model for universities that focused on a closer relationship between research and teaching, it has educated 29 Nobel prizewinners.

HU has always been a universitas litterarum that embraces all major scientific disciplines and this profile is reflected in several Clusters of Excellence, Collaborative Research Centres and Research Training Groups.

Philipps-Universität Marburg is a traditional university with approximately 27,000 students in 16 faculties. The university, founded by Landgrave Philipp in 1527, is the oldest Protestant university still in existence. Scientific core areas are in Biomedical Sciences and Medicine, Synthetic Microbiology, Material Sciences, Neuroscience, Linguistics, as well as in Conflict Studies and Near- and Middle Eastern Studies. Philipps-Universität is characterized by bringing together history and modernity, with buildings reaching back to the 11th century as well as modern research centres built in the 21st century.

Studying in Marburg is particularly easy for disabled people, especially for the visually impaired, due to a number of special services. These self-imposed commitments have been awarded the “Family-Friendly University” Seal.

Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin was founded in 1592 and is ranked 108th in the world (QS World University Rankings 2020). Nobel laureates include Oscar Wilde, Samuel Beckett, William Rowan Hamilton and Ernest Walton.

Located on an iconic campus in the heart of Dublin’s city centre, Trinity is ranked as the 17th most international university in the world (Times Higher Education Rankings 2020). Our students and staff, from over 120 different nationalities, make it a truly diverse and international campus. Trinity is also home to the world-famous Book of Kells.

The University of Alcalá is the second oldest university in Spain. It was founded in 1499 and during its long existence it counted some of the most prominent figures of the Spanish culture amongst students and scholars. The most important literary prize in Spanish language, the Premio Cervantes, is awarded yearly by the King of Spain in the Great Hall of the University of Alcalá.

In 1998, the University of Alcalá was declared a World Heritage Site, being the first city in the world to be designed and built solely as the seat of a university. Alcalá is situated only 20 minutes away from Madrid and is an excellent starting point for discovering some of the most attractive cities in central Spain, such as Ávila, Segovia or Toledo.

The Universitat de Barcelona, founded in 1450, is a comprehensive higher education institution that presents a deep-rooted academic tradition coupled with a vigorous research activity that ranked it as one of the first scientific universities in the country.

It is located in the city of Barcelona, one of the main cosmopolitan hubs in the Mediterranean and indeed in Europe. The University of Barcelona’s sixteen centres, clustered into six main campuses, are spread over the city and completely integrated into the urban life.

Being one of the biggest universities in Spain, the University of Barcelona welcomes a large number of students from both Spanish universities and abroad every year. It has over 64.000 undergraduate students and almost 19.000 master and postgraduate students and doctoral candidates. More than 11.000 students are from overseas and of over 139 different countries.

Established in the 15th century, the University of Bordeaux has deep roots in international academia. Originally founded during British rule, it transitioned to French governance shortly thereafter. Today, this esteemed institution welcomes over 55,000 students and offers a diverse range of educational and research opportunities across more than 50 fields.

One of its significant milestones came in 2016 when it was selected for the prestigious French Excellence Initiative, a recognition bestowed on only a few institutions. This initiative has sparked a profound transformation, solidifying the university’s commitment to internationalisation.

The University of Milan, approaching its centenary in 2024, stands as one of Italy’s premier universities. With a robust student body of around 60,000, it’s renowned for both research excellence and a strong global perspective. 

The University of Milan embraces a profound international perspective. Remarkably, it ranks among Europe’s top universities, with over 2,000 outgoing Erasmus+ students every academic year. This commitment to international education enriches the student experience and fosters global citizenship.

Established in 1224, the University of Naples was the 1st publicly funded university in Europe. Today, the University provides courses in basically all academic disciplines with 155 graduate level degrees. Currently, it welcomes about 97,000 students and there are more than 50 student associations, which promote various sporting and cultural events. Three Presidents of the Italian Republic have studied at the University of Naples.

Naples is a cosmopolitan city that presents spectacular buildings and views, including the imposing Vesuvius, churches and gardens that seem to create an open-air museum. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site with a great lively atmosphere and excellent gastronomy to make the most of the Mediterranean climate.

With 26,000 enrolled students, the University of Zurich (UZH) is Switzerland’s largest university. Founded in the year 1833, UZH was Europe’s first university to be established by a democratic political system; today, UZH is one of the foremost universities in the German-speaking world. With seven faculties that cover over 130 different subject areas, UZH offers a wide variety of Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD programmes.

Numerous distinctions highlight the University’s international renown in the fields of medicine, immunology, genetics, neuroscience and structural biology as well as in economics. To date, the Nobel Prize has been conferred on twelve UZH scholars. More than just a global financial hub, Zurich’s choice of cultural and leisure activities, nightlife, and unmistakable charm, make the city, and its university, exceptionally attractive for international students.
