The OpenU project will establish a European platform for blended and online learning, academic cooperation and mobility.
Funding: Erasmus+ Key Action 3
Project budget: 2,664,880 €
Length: 3 years
The OpenU project will establish a European platform for blended and online learning, academic cooperation and virtual mobility, building on the strengths of existing solutions and with a view to pave the way for the establishment of a eU.university. OpenU will be a comprehensive digital and integrated infrastructure linking existing educational resources and tools that have been designed to achieve maximum systemic impact by:
● Establishing a single point of access for online learning in Europe, putting online courses and curricula at the fingertips of students;
● Providing pedagogies, models and guidelines as well as continuous professional staff development to the academic community that can enhance and accelerate the joint development and delivery of courses and provide useful expertise in the field of digital learning and pedagogy;
● Supporting the establishment of European Universities by creating a shared digital infrastructure that offsets the needs for redundant infrastructure;
● Ensuring a sustainable integration of flagship projects such as MyAcademicID, building on European Student Card initiative and Erasmus without Paper, the Maturity model for online and blended education, European Short Learning Programs, etc.
The project strengthens and puts forward the coordination process that has been initiated between the different digital initiatives of EU Member States within the ET2020 Working Groups on the Modernisation of HE and Digital Skills and Competences. Having a common, EU-wide hub for digital learning allows for a more systematic and holistic approach in the field of digitisation of HE across Member States by bringing together existing projects under one roof.
