What do students want from the new Erasmus+ programme?

The students are the future of higher education, and must, therefore, be heard on the topic of higher education’s future. But what does the broad student population of Europe want from a future European programme on education?
As the main beneficiaries of the Erasmus+ Programme, the students have many opinions on the biggest problems with the current programme, what actions EU must take on education, and how a dream Erasmus+ programme would look like. This salon will feature two of the biggest student organisations in Europe, the Erasmus Student Network and the European Student’s Union. As an institution dedicated to the dissemination of knowledge in Brussels, the Muntpunt Grand Café is the perfect host for our event.

The Erasmus Student Network
ESN is the biggest student association in Europe. It is present in more than 480 Higher Education Institutions from 37 countries. ESN is operating on three levels: local, national, and international.
ESN works for the creation of a more mobile and flexible education environment by supporting and developing student exchange from different levels and providing an intercultural experience also to those students who cannot access a period abroad (“internationalisation at home”).
The European Students’ Union
The European Students’ Union (ESU) is the umbrella organisation of 46 National Unions of Students (NUS) from 39 countries, being present in 27 out of the 28 EU member states. Through its members, ESU represents over 15 million higher education students in Europe.
ESU is established as an international non-profit non-governmental organisation registered in Belgium.
ESU represents and promotes the interests of students at the European level towards all relevant bodies and in particular the European Union, Bologna Follow Up Group, Council of Europe and UNESCO.
The Muntpunt Grand Café
The Muntpunt Grand Café is a part of the Muntpunt library. The Grand Café serves a wide range of hot and cold drinks as well as light, freshly prepared meals. The café also regularly hosts debates, dance evenings, chess nights and more.
